Congratulations to the quartet of Sanya Richards, Dee Dee Trotter, Francena McCorory and Allyson Felix who destroyed the competition in the 4x400m relay to claim Olympic Gold and set the Olympic and World Record; 40.82!!
Sometimes, only by one’s good fortune, you find yourself in the company of royalty, okay, track royalty. As a C.I.F. track official in the California Southern Section, I witnessed a slender 5’6” 126 pound 10th grader from L.A. Baptist H.S., who was nicknamed by teammates "chicken legs", step on the track and dazzle and amaze for the next three years. Over that stretch of time, she broke 100 & 200 meter marks everywhere she ran, capping off her high school career by setting the national high school record in 200 meters, 22.52, that remains today.
For us who followed the progress of ALLYSON FELIX from those H.S. days as "chicken legs", to her blossoming into the gracious, humble, yet tenacious competitor she has become as World and Olympic champion; we are left with a wonderful sense of pride for her in our hearts.
Congratulation Allyson on your three Gold Medals and World Record in the 2012 Olympics. You wear a deserved crown well as the worlds finest female sprinter and one of the worlds finest athletes!!
